CHEYENNE, WYOMING – The committed and widely recognized Wyoming conservative Darin Smith today announced his campaign for Wyoming State Senate in the open seat being vacated by Senator Anthony Bouchard.
Smith is a gritty fourth-generation Wyomingite. He and his wife, Alicia, have raised their five children in eastern Laramie County, instilling in them the same Wyoming values that have guided his life and career. With a daughter preparing to become an elementary school teacher, two sons serving in the U.S. military, and two younger children still at home, Smith understands the importance of safeguarding the future for Wyoming's families.
Smith gave the following statement on his campaign launch:
“Wyoming should be a beacon of conservative values. As a whole, Wyoming knows family values better than anyone. But lately we’ve seen half-hearted approaches to critical priorities like protecting our children from horrific liberal agendas, saving our seniors from unconscionable increases in property taxes, and supporting Wyoming agriculture, energy, and jobs.
“For the last twenty years Wyoming has been in economic purgatory when we should be the leader of industry in the region. At the same time, we have allowed liberal forces to chip away at our families and our Wyoming values. The Wyoming legislature is packed with liberal politicians masquerading as Republicans. We simply cannot put up with another cycle of this onslaught, and we must push back and hold politicians accountable to their votes.
“The joke in conservative circles around the nation is that Wyoming is the reddest state with the bluest legislature. This is indefensible, and I’m stepping up to run for Wyoming Senate because I’ve got fire in my bones to right this ship, fight off this corruption, strengthen our families, and rebuild our Wyoming way of life. There is no one who will fight harder or give more of themselves to serve Wyoming residents."
Throughout his career, Smith has found success in his endeavors. He built a very successful investment business and sold it in 2005.
For the last nineteen years Smith has actively walked his talk as an executive with national non-profits including the Family Research Council and the Christian Broadcasting Network. Smith has worked full-time with the Family Research Council for the last seven years. This is an organization that fights for faith, family, and freedom friendly policies around the country.
Smith has practiced law since 2000 and served numerous families and businesses in Wyoming, shunning the traditional practice of chasing money and stirring the pot in favor of helping the downtrodden and those less fortunate. Smith and his wife also have a real estate business.
Darin and Alicia, We are thrilled to hear this news. We will be praying for your efforts to be successful. We need more like you to be willing to step up in leadership. May our Lord bless you and provide wisdom as you move forward in this endeavor.
