Darin Smith, a lifetime resident of the State of Wyoming, is a fourth-generation Wyomingite who grew up in Rock Springs and currently resides in Cheyenne.
Darin has spent the last 11 years working for the Christian Broadcasting Network**. As an executive with CBN, he leads a team of 15 development professionals who generate much of the resources to fund the organization's mission and worldwide activities.
After graduating high school, Darin was recruited to wrestle at the University of Wyoming. A proud Cowboy, he earned Western Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference honors twice and was listed as an Honorable Mention Academic All-American in both 1994 and 1995.
Darin earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UW in 1996. He later entered law school at the university, graduating in 2000. After completing his education, Darin began his business career with RBC Dain Rauscher in 2000, which subsequently became RBC Wealth Management. He built a successful investment business that focused on 401k management and saving companies and their employees large amounts of management fees. Darin sold his investment practice in 2005 before joining the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Darin has also maintained a successful law practice since 2000. In that role, he has represented individuals, families, and corporations with legal issues and helped many people in Wyoming who couldn’t otherwise afford legal representation. Darin recently brought together shareholders to pursue justice in a “David versus Goliath” lawsuit against a multi-national oil company. The case is now on appeal.
Before embarking on his professional career, Darin spent five summers digging ditches for Mountain Fuel while attending school. As one of the toughest jobs he’s ever held, Darin views this experience as a core lesson in the value of hard work.
Darin has been active in community service including coaching wrestling and serving as a Cubmaster for a local pack, as a member of Lion’s Club, and as the children’s pastor for his church.
Darin and Alicia Smith have been married for 17 years and have five children who range in age from 3 to 14 years old. As a family, the Smiths enjoy participating in local youth sports, 4-H, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and FFA.
